At the Foundry Museum in the middle of Nykøbing you will find Denmark's largest museum collection of tiled stoves, stoves, stoves and other castings. The museum also contains the fascinating story of the famous Morsø Iron Foundry and the importance of the factory to Nykøbing Mors. Buy tickets for a guided tour with the museum's knowledgeable and dedicated guides who will take you through over 170 years of foundry history. Please note that the tour begins half an hour before the official opening time of the museum. Tickets for the tour must be purchased online and presented to the guide. The tour is free for children under 18. Please note that a ticket to the museum is also required to participate in the tour.

Guided fossil hunt

One bends down and picks up a rock. With your pickaxe, you split the stone in half. And what then appears in the interior of the stone? Yes, if you're lucky, the stone has been hiding a secret for 55 million years! Perhaps a petrification of an insect, a fish or a leaf from a tree will appear. Fossils are abundant in the pier tombs at Nordmors. Take one of the museum's skilled guides down into the museum's very own pier pit, just a stone's throw from the Fossil and Moler Museum. Armed with the right tools, you join forces in search of the unique fossils that have been hiding in the underground for millions of years. Do you find anything? Yes, then feel free to take it home!

Ticket to the Fossil and Moler Museum

World-class fossils The Fossil and Moler Museum displays an impressive collection of fossils and tells the story of the formation of the pier more than 55 million years ago at the bottom of a vast ocean. In the collection you will find lots of fun petrifications of fish, birds, insects and tree trunks. Lose yourself in the rest of the many beautiful fossils of all kinds, including the world's largest fossilized Ikait crystal, which is almost one meter long. The museum shop sells fossils, minerals, books as well as ice cream, soft drinks and coffee, and not least jewellery made from processed fossils. It is also possible to go hunting for fossils yourself in the pier graves around the museum, and museum staff are happy to advise on this in the museum shop.

The museum is housed in one of the factory buildings where Morsø Iron Foundry produced everything from pots and pans, to stoves and stoves. In the old showroom and storage rooms of the iron foundry, visitors will be told in text, film and pictures the exciting story of the famous and illustrious factory, N.A. Christensen & Co., which for more than 160 years has been one of the country's largest producers of wood-burning stoves and other castings. The exhibitions at the Foundry Museum give you one of the most authentic museum experiences you can imagine.

Horror at the old factory - Halloween

Do you dare to visit the city's creepiest house? 🧛‍♂️🕷️☠️ During the autumn holidays, the entire foundry museum is transformed into a haunted house, but on Friday nights only the bravest dare to come inside the doors when the horror is brought to life. Move through pure massacre as the creatures of darkness take over the old factory 😱 Again this year, the Foundry Museum is transformed into the creepiest place on Mors. This happens when the museum, together with over 30 volunteers from the Social Day Offerings in Morsø Municipality, goes all-in on Halloween.

In the footsteps of the occupation - city walk

On the occasion that in 2025 it will be 80 years since Denmark was liberated, we are going on a guided tour around Nykøbing in the footsteps of the occupation. Among other things, we get around the headquarters of the German troops, hear about illegal newspaper printing in Vestergade, about the city's sirens and shelters, about German refugees at the city's elementary school, and we get the story of the dramatic shootout between the resistance fighter Henning Pedersen and the occupation troops that took place in the famous building The Iron Iron in 1944.

Lecture on the occupation at Mors

On the occasion that in 2025 it will be 80 years since Denmark was liberated, the museum focuses on the occupation period that it took on Mors. In the lecture, we delve into the daily problems of Morsing residents, life with the German occupation force, the local resistance movement and the dramatic events of which the five cursed years were rich - also on Lake Mors Limfjord.

Nykøbing's history - lecture

On the occasion that the local history exhibition about Nykøbing at Dueholm Kloster in 2025 gets a proper overhaul, we invite you to an exciting lecture on the history of Nykøbing from 1536 to the present day. We follow the market town and its life from the Reformation and through a myriad of fires, wars, occupations, industrialization, depopulation, development, life for better or worse to the city we know today. The lecture features a sea of old photos and objects from the museum's exhibits.

Voices from the Grave - cemetery walk

Nykøbing's old cemetery contains a sea of stories about well-known and barely known Neo-Köbingen residents who have their final resting place in the cemetery that was founded in the 1850s by Johan Rummelhoff, the then city bailiff, because of fears of a cholera epidemic. On this cemetery walk we have collected some of the best stories and most exciting burial sites and tell about a large number of the people who helped shape Nykøbing and Mors.

About Museum Mors

Museum Mors is a state-recognized cultural history and geological museum with geographical responsibility for Morsø Municipality. The museum was founded in 1901 and moved in 1909 to Dueholm Kloster, where it still has its main address and administration. The old market town museum was expanded from the 1980s with several departments. In 2023, the museum consists of Dueholm Monastery, Morsø Local History Archive, Fossil and Moler Museum and Foundry Museum.
